About

Dr. Blake Bloxham performs state of the art hair transplant surgery in New York and Missouri.

Dr. Blake Bloxham’s interest in hair loss and hair restoration began as a pre-medical student after helping his grandmother cope with chemotherapy-induced hair loss. During his early research in the field, he discovered the Hair Restoration Network and Hair Transplant Network and eventually became involved with the community as a co-moderator, editorial assistant, and writer while attending medical school.

After completing medical school, Dr. Bloxham pursued dedicated training in hair transplant surgery through a preceptor-based fellowship. He went on to practice hair restoration surgery in a partnership for 11 years before establishing his own practice, Bloxham Medical.

At Bloxham Medical, Dr. Bloxham has built his practice around a physician-led approach to hair transplantation. Rather than relying heavily on delegation, he remains personally involved throughout the surgical process and works alongside a small, experienced technician team that has been with him for more than a decade.

Dr. Bloxham performs both Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) and Follicular Unit Excision (FUE) and believes strongly that neither technique should be viewed as universally superior. Instead, he develops an individualized surgical strategy based on each patient’s degree of hair loss, donor characteristics, goals, age, and anticipated long-term progression. His philosophy emphasizes responsible donor management and planning not simply for the patient’s appearance today, but for how their hair restoration will mature over the years and potentially decades ahead.

When appropriate, Dr. Bloxham also incorporates Direct Hair Implantation (DHI) and body hair transplantation (BHT) into his surgical approach. His practice additionally offers eyebrow transplantation for patients seeking restoration or enhancement of eyebrow hair.

Beyond surgery, Dr. Bloxham maintains a strong interest in evidence-based medicine and the continued advancement of hair restoration. He is actively involved in research surrounding emerging hair loss treatments and drug development and believes that continued study and scientific scrutiny are essential as both medical and surgical treatments for hair loss evolve.

His overall approach centers on individualized, physician-led care: selecting the right treatment and surgical technique for each patient rather than fitting patients into a standardized or “cookie-cutter” surgical plan.
